Julia Sweater

I love the patterns from Compagnie M. The Julia Sweater is one of the ones I loved at first sight.

I sew up two of them in no time a couple of weeks ago ; the sweater is fast and easy to make and looks so comfortable to wear. Both sweaters made in size 3 yrs for Alice who's 20 months old .  I wasn't sure which size to choose... so in those cases I always opt for the bigger size as she'll grow into it, whereas a size too small...well, would be given away which is fine too.

The options with these patterns are numerous, but I kept the first one very plain and simple, to try out the pattern first.

The second one, which was inspired by her has the kangourou pocket in front and the split collar. I love the fabric, combined with the oker coloured jersey, both bought in the Belgian webshop Bellelien.

I definitely like this pattern so more sweaters will follow I'm sure...

   To sew with jersey at the moment, or quilting cotton.
2. Quel est le pays que tu rêves de visiter? Which country would you love to visit?
   The Nordics (long track through Denmark, Norway and Sweden) and, going back to Canada, of course
3. Si tu étais riche, quels sont tous les patrons que tu rêverais d’acheter? I I you were rich, which patterns would you want to buy?
   I have quite an impressive collection already... But I am definitely fan of the Belgian and Dutch patterns so would empty the stores there ;-) 
4. Plutôt ville ou campagne? - City or countryside?
   Countryside!

   probably my Boden dress in the 50's style. Or my pyjamas.
7. Pourquoi couds-tu? (Par soucis d’économie, pour te passer le temps?….) Why do you sew? (hobby, thriftiness...)
   I started as my then 6 year old daughter was very very tall for her age and I could not find kids clothes in her size anymore. No way she was going to wear teenager stuff at that age (miniskirts and tanktops at age 6...don't think so!) It evolved from there to being a hobby I enjoy; being able to create something for someone feels nice.
8. Quelle est ta bête noire en couture, ce que tu n’as encore jamais osé faire? what do you particularly dislike with sewing, what have you not dared to sew yet?
   I wanted to make a baby diaper bag/sac à langer and a nice handbag. Bought the fabric. Still untouched. It's leather and suède, scares me off!
9. Quel est ton pire défaut? what's your worst character trait?
   ....Impatient and sarcastic
10. Et ta plus grande qualité? what's your best quality?
    ...Attentive and determined

11 random facts about me so you get to know me better

1. I am, and always will be, a proud Dutch national but have not lived there since September 1996.

2. I left home when I was 18 and moved to the UK. Then to France in 2002, where I'm still living now.

3. Despite having 4 children, I am still not a morning person. I need sleep or lots of coffee.

4. I love language and words, and think more about spelling and grammar than a girl should. I wanted to be a journalist in my late teens.

5. I read. As much as I can. Since having kids, the average has shot down, I used to read about 3 books a week. I'm now happy with 1 book per month...

6. I am very good at the game 'Taboo' and have never lost a game so far. 

7. My favourite colour is green.

8. I used to be a vegetarian, now I eat meat but I prefer fish and white meat.

9. My favourite season is the autumn.

10. I don't like any sort of mushroom and don't eat offal.

Butterflies

Dit stofje vond ik zo mooi, en het zusje ervan, ditsy floral, ook.
Van de eerste maakte ik een jurkje voor Alice uit het boek stof voor durf het zelvers. Ze probeerde hem graag uit maar dan geslaagde foto's maken valt nog niet mee...met haar pop (spiderman) fier in de handjes geklemd was ze nog niet overtuigd maar t mocht wel even..


J'aime beaucoup le tissu 'butterflies in straw', ainsi que sa sœurette 'Ditsy Floral'. J'en ai fait une robe pour Alice - des photos de qualité un peu bof car ils viennent de mon portable. La robe tombait pile poile, donc la deuxième version dans le tissu Ditsy Floral est fait dans la taille au dessus...que je trouve trop large finalement..je trouve que la première version est plus jolie sur elle.

Van de twee restjes stof een omkeerbare zakdoekdooshoes voor mijn NSP. Mijn wat??

Charlie n° 2

After the first version of the Charlie shirt, one for Alice - a fully reversible one in lime and birdy jersey, I now finished the version for Ben. I made the one for Alice in size 98 and it was quite small, so for Ben I decided to make it in size 134 - at the worst it'd be too big and lie in his cupboard for a few months. But I think it's quite okay like this...

I didn't want to make a fully reversible shirt again, so I just followed the instructions for the normal version this time, and this way it's much much easier quicker to sew up. I cut all pieces a few days ago and then sewed it all together last night in an hour or so.

As I finished it last night he tried it on today after school. He's happy with it although he did think at first that it looks a bit too much like a pyjama top! After his big sister told him it'd look very good with  blue jeans he now thinks it's cool and is going to wear it to school tomorrow.

renouvellement de l'ancien blog
